Forest School
At Jack in the Box, we are very fortunate to be able to offer weekly Forest School sessions to our children. We use The Forest School within Downsbrook school grounds, just a very short walk for us!
We believe it is important to provide outdoor learning and at Jack in the Box we have two outside areas we use with the children daily but having the use of a larger Forest School area enables us to really explore and give the children opportunities to try new skills and challenge themselves.
At Forest School we encourage child-led activities, allowing the children to explore and follow their own interests, working together with their peers. Through observation and positive encouragement, Forest School helps build on the child’s skills, building self-confidence and self-esteem.
Fresh air and physical movement are all essential for a child’s wellbeing and being outside offers opportunity to be close to nature and the change of the seasons. It promotes creativity and imagination and makes the children think.
Vivi was a bit nervous about attending forest school. But even after her first session she loved it and looks forward to it every week. It’s great that Jack in the Box can offer this.
I want to go to forest school every single day. It’s fun.
I love the mud kitchen and making spiders from leaves and conkers.
Darcey comes home excited to tell me about the tyre swing and jumping in puddles, she has the best time.
I can go exploring with my friends.
